macOS BlackHole setup

On macOS, live routing requires the BlackHole virtual audio driver. Install it once, then Retuner Pro can route browser and app audio for real-time retuning.

  1. Install BlackHole from existential.audio/blackhole.
  2. Install and open Retuner Pro.
  3. Enable Live audio routing in Retuner Pro.
  4. Retuner Pro will switch macOS output to BlackHole while routing is active and restore your previous output when disabled.

If you use Loopback instead, disable monitor output to avoid duplicate audio.

Windows driver setup

The Windows installer includes support for Retuner Pro's system-wide audio routing setup. During installation, Retuner Pro checks whether a compatible virtual audio driver is already present on your system.

  • If a supported virtual audio driver is already installed, Retuner Pro uses it and skips installing another one.
  • If no compatible virtual audio driver is detected, the installer can set up the bundled VB-CABLE driver for you.
  • This helps keep your system clean and avoids installing duplicate virtual audio routes when they are not needed.

VB-CABLE Installation

Retuner Pro may use and bundle the official VB-CABLE virtual audio driver on Windows when needed for system-wide routing. VB-CABLE is created by VB-Audio Software.

Setup steps

  1. Install Retuner Pro and open the app.
  2. On Windows, let the installer confirm or set up a compatible virtual audio route for Retuner Input.
  3. On macOS, install BlackHole before enabling live routing.
  4. Select your desired speaker output inside Retuner Pro.
  5. Start playback and adjust tuning, binaural separation, and EQ as needed.

Before you contact support

  • On macOS, confirm BlackHole is installed and available in Sound settings.
  • Confirm audio is routed into Retuner Input (Windows) or BlackHole (macOS live routing).
  • Confirm your speaker output device is selected correctly inside the app.
  • Confirm Windows installation completed without skipping required driver permissions.
  • Fully restart the app after installing or updating any audio-routing components.
